dc.description.abstract This thesis concerns the use of the coenzyme PQQ and quinoprotein dehydrogenase enzymes for the development of enzyme electrodes. A general introduction to the area which describes the properties of quinoprotein dehydrogenases is given. The reactivity and redox properties of the quinone cofactor, PQQ, are also outlined.
