Item Open Access Advances in Manufacturing Technology XXVII: Proceedings of the 11th International Conference on Manufacturing Research (ICMR2013)(Cranfield University, 2013-09-19) Shehab, Essam; Ball, Peter D.; Tjahjono, BennyICMR2013 was organised by Cranfield University on the 19-20 September 2013. The conference focuses on any aspects of product development, manufacturing technology, manufacturing systems, information systems and digital technologies. It provides an excellent avenue for researchers to present state-of-the-art multidisciplinary manufacturing research and exchange ideas. In addition to the four keynote speeches from Airbus and Rolls-Royce and three invited presentations, there are 108 papers in these proceedings. These papers are split into 24 technical sessions. The International Conference on Manufacturing Research is a major event for academics and industrialists engaged in manufacturing research. Held annually in the UK since the late 1970s, the conference is renowned as a friendly and inclusive environment that brings together a broad community of researchers who share a common goal; developing and managing the technologies and operations that are key to sustaining the success of manufacturing businesses. For over two decades, ICMR has been the main manufacturing research conference organised in the UK, successfully bringing researchers, academics and industrialists together to share their knowledge and experiences. Initiated a National Conference by the Consortium of UK University Manufacturing Engineering Heads (COMEH), it became an International Conference in 2003. COMEH is an independent body established in 1978. Its main aim is to promote manufacturing engineering education, training and research. To achieve this, the Consortium maintains a close liaison with government bodies concerned with the training and continuing development of professional engineers, while responding to the appropriate consultative and discussion documents and other initiatives. COMEH is represented on the Engineering Professor’s council (EPC) and it organises and supports national manufacturing engineering education research conferences and symposia.Item Open Access Cranfield Science for a Circular Economy. How to tackle the Water, Energy, Food nexus. Conference Proceedings(2017-07-20)With the ever-increasing pressures on the limited resources of our planet, there is today a recognised need to evolve from the “take-make-dispose” model to a more circular model. In the former, mankind's economic activities and lifestyles tend to deplete finite resources and create products that end up in polluting landfills and incinerators. Instead, a circular economy aims at reducing the use of finite resources and reintroducing waste in the production cycle as a raw material. Transitioning toward a circular model requires us to act now upon the three fundamental components, water-energy-food. The inherent interconnections between these components are complex and must be identified and accounted for to avoid promoting one at the expense of another. Organised by Cranfield’s School of Water, Energy and Environment Doctoral Communities, this conference is a platform to promote collaboration between scientists and industries to explore, interrogate, and challenge ideas related to making our production and use of water, energy, and food more sustainable.Item Open Access Early Career Women in Water 2021 Conference (ECWW2021) : Proceedings(Cranfield University, 2021-03-08) Cranfield UniversityItem Open Access Proceedings of the Cranfield Multi-Strand Conference: Creating Wealth Through Research and Innovation (CMC 2008): 6-7 May 2008(Cranfield University Press, 2008-05)This new Multi-Strand Conference explored how wealth is created through research and innovation. It brought together researchers and practitioners from across the spectrum to discuss advances in applied sciences, engineering and technology, including associated management practices. There was a focus on application, especially in the environment sector, manufacturing, aerospace, health and defence sectors. A particular aim was to provide a welcoming and supportive forum for early-stage researchers to present and discuss their work with more established figures in their various fields.
