Item Open Access 2-port as an anlalogue of the Lorentz transformation of special relativity theory(College of Aeronautics, 1961-04) Deards, S. R.If the variables associated with a linear resistance 2-port are identified with the variables of special relativity theory, it is shown that a resistance 2-port transforms its port variables according to the Lorentz equations.Item Open Access Explicit formulae for ladder 2-ports(College of Aeronautics, 1961) Deards, S. R.Explicit formulae are obtained for the network functions of ladder 2—ports.Item Open Access Notes on the theory of planar electric networks(College of Aeronautics, 1956-08) Deards, S. R.The primary purpose of these notes is to sketch an approach to the elementary algebraic theory of planar electric networks which conduces to a formal dual correspondence between the so-called mesh and nodal representations of planar networks that is complete in every respects It is also shown that if general variables are employed in the analysis of a network the number of voltage or current equations that serve to describe the network is infinite. Finally, it is demonstrated that the impedance or admittance matrix of a passive network is not necessarily symmetrical.Item Open Access The use of a potential flow tank for testing axi-symmetric contraction shapes suitable for wind tunnels(College of Aeronautics, Cranfield., 1951-04) Babister, A. W.; Marshall, W. S. D.; Lilley, G. M.; Sills, E. C.; Deards, S. R.The report gives details of tests in the potential flow tank on a series of axi-symmetric contraction shapes. The tests were in connection with the design of the 8ft x 6ft wind tunnel and a water tunnel. Continues...
