DESCRIPTION: The data contained within the ERICE project contains all the results from the various tests performed on the bare pipe and coated pipe samples to determine the adhesion strength of ice. The data in this folder contains all the results from the test carried out with a rig mimicking an Air Cycle Machine (ACM) developed at Cranfield University for the ERICE EU project (project number 821301). It includes : - tests performed on bare aluminium as well as coated pipe samples to determine the adhesive strength of ice - scrape test - tests to visualise the difference in ice accretion with the different coatings - trace-wire tests to simulate the effect of an anti-icing system - tests using a high speed camera to visualise the flow impacting the pipe - tests using a Malvern Spraytech to characterise the flow of particles impacting the pipe The results helped in ranking the coatings by their effectiveness as a passive ice protection solution. The tests were performed in Test House 6 in the Gas Turbine Test Area of Cranfield University from the dates 8-NOV-2021 to 03-DEC-2021. The tests were carried out by Abhay Vincent (PhD researcher) along with Peter West (Senior Technical Officer).
