TEST MATRIX CONDITION 1 TEST (VISUALIZATION): -This set of tests on the samples was carried out at Test Matrix condition #1. -The rig was set to the conditions and the test is carried out for a 3 min accretion. -The data is logged, and the videos were recorded to observe the ice accretion at the higher point of the ACM operational envelope. -It was decided not to push the turbo further than 60,000 RPM to ensure it doesn’t breakdown and cause any additional damages to the rig in order to finish the campaign within the deadlines. -From the testing, it was observed that the ice formed at this condition was rime with a heavier accretion than expected. -However, the condition wasn’t deemed suitable for Scrape Testing as running the turbo at a relatively high RPM of 60,000 in an off-design condition (with an air-water mixture being fed through the turbine) meant an increased risk of breakdown. -This meant obtaining 5 values from this test condition for each sample wasn’t possible using the Scrape test. -However, the testing was still done for one complete run for each sample as it still provides a good visualization of how the ice accretes at this condition thereby balancing the risk with reduced running time at this condition. -Thickness measurements were taken at three separate radial points around the region of maximum accretion (mostly at the end of the pipe closer to the turbo blades).
